Cognitive Aspect in Linguistic and Affective Context

Cognitive aspect usually refers to the learner's exisung knowledge (knowledge context). Before embarking upon the study of a foreign language, the student has already been equipped with the knowledge of the mother tongue, which includes lexical and grammatical items that index concepts and relationships, and also with knowledge of the social variables which determine the selection of words, Pronounciation, and intonation. More importantly, the student has a wealth of conceptual organized and inter-referenced, that acts as the basis for meaning construction. The student's existing knowledge can facilitate as well as interfere with his or her attempt to acquire the target language. For that reason, this study tries to present a description how the cognitive aspect is applied in linguistic as well as in affective context in order to interfere the TL.
